Vladas Velyvis - Abstract surrealistic oil paintings

Vladas Velyvis: oil paintings

Vladas Velyvis was born in 1948, April the 3th in Lithuania (Alytus town). Since 1951 he lived together with his parents in Russia. In  1964-68 he studied at the school of arts in Sverdlovsk, 1968 returned back to Lithuania, where he started his artistic activities. Till 1997 he was working in Lithuania in the design and advertising branch. Since 1997 works as an independent artist and organizes his painting and graphic arts expositions. The central subject of the paintings is love, expressed through the surrealism prism. Rich symbolism, earth and space motifs mark all of his works. The artist is strongly influenced by thoughts and ideas of the psychoanalyst Carl Gustav Jung. His paintings don't bear one style, sometimes it seems that they are painted by different artists. Velyvis' works are complex, variable and a bit mysterious.
